Welcome and thank you for choosing Levinson Sullivan Dentistry! We want your first visit to our office to be as enjoyable and productive as possible. To that end, below is an overview of what you can expect during your first appointment with us.
In order to best meet your needs, we first need to understand them. So throughout your first visit, we want to listen to you. We will encourage you to tell us about your…
- Dental history
- Current status – any problem areas or concerns
- Dental fears or anxiety
- Future goals for your mouth and/or smile
- The time frame in which you would like to accomplish these goals
- Any and all of your questions or concerns
What You Should Bring With You
For your first visit with us, you should bring a valid ID (driver's license, passport, etc.), your insurance card, and a list of any current medications.
Your first appointment is usually scheduled for 90 minutes so we can take the time needed to listen to your concerns, to collect important diagnostic records (i.e.: x-rays and photographs), to learn about your current dental health, and to address your needs. Subsequent appointments will be shorter.
Your first office visit will consist of a 5 step process:
Step 1: Your Arrival, Forms, and Office Tour
Walk through our doors and you'll be greeted with a friendly smile at our front desk! We will quickly guide you through our patient forms and offer you a refreshing beverage from our coffee and water bar.
Before you are escorted to your patient room, we will give you the office tour so that you can become familiar with your new dental home.
Step 2: X-rays and Photos
You will be introduced to your hygienist, who will take photographs and any necessary x-rays.
Step 3: Examination
Our hygienist will examine the health of your gums to gauge your periodontal health. She will also discuss any specific concerns or goals you may have regarding your overall dental health. Depending on the results, a cleaning may be immediately necessary.
Step 4: Meet the Doctors
Either Dr. Levinson or Dr. Sullivan (depending on who you are scheduled with) will spend one-on-one time with you to review all of your information, to discuss any significant findings, and to briefly explain our patient care philosophy.
If necessary, they will schedule a subsequent meeting with you in our private consult room for more discussion. This lends further opportunity to discuss specific concerns or goals so that we can tailor treatment to fit your needs.
Step 5: Check Out
After your discussion with either Dr. Levinson or Dr. Sullivan, you will be escorted to our front office to check out before you head on your way. At this time, we will review your insurance information, process your payment, and double check your next appointment date and time.
